Matt, the term coined from the gold '69 L78 Camaro thread I believe was junk box...

Save the car, have a blast, enjoy the project!

Hands up all of us who are or have been upside down in a car.

Anyone that has ever bought a new car has been upside down from the first time they drove it.

It is possible, on occasion, that some people buy old cars to enjoy them rather than make money on them.

Love the idea of this car being saved. It's a challenge and will be something to be very proud of if successful. Don't like it when cars are looked at as investments. I put a few thousand a year into my 04 Highlander cuz I love it. It's probably worth $4k!

I think those that restore these cars to make money are the ones upside down, but on the other hand it's their job too especially if they have to take care of their family. Seems like a fine line anymore in what use to be called a hobby. Although the car isn't at all completely original it is a decent looking project if someone wants to deal with what it's going to take to get it right. Putting it back is the fun part. IDK, just thinking out loud.

I just put a new $4,000.00 transmission in my 06 Mountaineer (157,000 miles). I made 4 trips to Nova Scotia and back to Houston. Actually towed my COPO back with it. Loved it but she was starting to cost more than the payments on a new one. Traded it a few months ago and got $2,000.00 for it. And now I'm upside down in a BMW.

I like it, but that's me. I see a car like that as a great Father/Son-Daughter project, if I had the space and time it would have been a great car to restore for me and Amanda (who is now asking why her brother's have full size cars and she doesn't.... ) I heard this same flack when I bought my Deuce (in 1996!), shake it off and move on....

I guess we should toss these as well?

WOW!! It really amazes me why these cars are left like that. Look at the wheel opening on the quarter of the silver Nova. I wonder if that actually kept the quarter from rusting away there since it's sitting out side. I've never been lucky enough to see one of those cars let alone all those. Sweet.

Matt, When is your buddy getting it back home? The car was about a hour from me. Too big of a project for me but I may have taken a road trip to take a peek if I had seen it on Ebay. You never know what else a guy may have laying around. Good luck to your friend and I hope she sees the road again.
