Tim,
Very nice 67 L36 Corvette. Very cool that it sold at Hallman Chevrolet in Johnstown, Pa. Hallman Chevrolet was only about 30 miles from me. They sold a lot of high performance chevys to the guys in the steel mills and coal mines of this area. I once had a shadow grey 1970 SS454 Monte Carlo that sold there new. It would later become Rudy Haupt/Hallmans Chevrolet and then just Rudy Haupt Chevrolet. Have you tried to reach out to John Minemyer the original owner? |

I cannot say I have. I had it in mind once I settle into the winter season.

The snow started flying here yesterday, so I dug into the 67 today. Got the steering column out, gauge cluster, glove box, and radio. I already put a new lens in the radio and reinstalled that. Got the clock sent out......should have that back in about a month. Next, disassemble the gauge cluster, clean the faces, clean the lenses, and rebulb the harness.

With the assistance of Matt Lamer, we also came up with this pic from the original owner.
Thanks Matt! |

The trip odometer would not reset as designed, added to the fact the tach and speedo bounced more than they should. The magnets in both proved to be bad. So, everything got cleaned, lubed, and repaired as necessary. I had everything else in the cluster cleaned and ready to go once the tach and speedo arrived. I was referred to this shop in Milwaukee by Colin Comer. Great service, as they turned it around in less than a week!
http://www.speedometersolutions.com/ I rebulbed the cluster, including an NOS GE257 flashing bulb(s) I keep in stock. I steam cleaned the carpets a few times, and gained an improvement in the overall look of them. While the car could probably stand new rugs, I feel they play the part of the car. New rugs would just look out of place IMO. I should have the clock back later today. |
