I am replying to clear up any confussion regarding this 24 mile LS6 Chevelle. I am probably the last person to have seen the car in person besides the current owner. I went to see the car about 6 months ago. My opinion can be relied upon with great confidence since I am a very avid student of the '70 LS6 Chevelle. My strengths in this field center around correctness and originality down to details that most people regard as ridiculous.
About the car, it is undoubtedly the very best low mileage LS6 in the world. From the limited amount of time I spent examining the car, I could see that it is surprisingly untouched and unfluffed. Very abnormal for a car like this. The paint is very nice and fully original. The engine compartment and interior have to be seen to be appreciated; they are incredible. They have the minor imperfections that one would expect from a car that was built in a few hours. The smog system is indeed missing right now, but I laugh at anybody who criticizes the car for this. Its not like there is any other LS6 to compete with this car. The proper smog parts (NOS and early take-off) are all that is needed to make the car complete. I have seen Bill Bonham's car several times in person and I love it. But the 24 mile car is brand new. If I had the money, I would buy it and never sell it. Not because I think it's the best investment in the world, but because it is the best Chevelle in the world. There has been talk of the possibility that someone in the past drove the car a little with the speedo cable disconnected. I knew this when I went to see the car and all I can say is that it is possible, but it would have to have been very very minimal. Everything is still brand new. The owner keeps it clean and properly stored and is an avid low mileage car collector who is excellent at the art of recognizing the difference between low mileage and restoration.
Another neat thing about the car is the very rare General 700 tires that it came with. Most Chevelle "experts" don't even know about these tires. There is no criticizing a car like this. It is truly one of a kind and should only be bought by someone who can appreciate it for what it is and leave it untouched.

Sounds like an awesome car that deserves the recognition. But my personal opinion is that I'd rather spend the $200K to buy a "best there is" LS6 Convertible, and then buy another "top quality" LS6 Hardtop with the left-over change from the $200K. Again, this is only my opinion.

I would rather have invested the $4,200 in a semi-agressive mutual fund!! I haven't done a FV-calc in a while, but per my calc, that $4,200 invested at 12% for the 32years compounded monthly would be worth approx. $191,715 today.

NWYENKO please check my calc, but I bet that $# is higher than what this car will sell for.

I think everybody who bought one of those Anniversary Corvettes had the same idea. Every GNX seems to have less than 5,000 miles too.

Marlin, I get something closer to 157k. However that "semi aggressive mutual fund" would probably be down 20-30%+ in the last 2 years!! This car has probably outperformed the market at least in the last 2 or 3 years. Side note: I upped the total timing in the Deuce to 38degrees and it runs a LOT better!! Jim

Got your email, your $157k is with annual compounding, and my $191k is with monthly compounding - quite a difference; $33.8k!!

This type of 'investment' discussion arises quite frequently when I talk with Yenko Deuce guys, many of them saying that the orig. purchase is a great investment since the cars have gone up in value. As you can see, the money spent on a '70 Yenko Deuce (or any other muscle car from that era) with a minimum purchase price of $4,395 would be worth approx. $200,616 today using the previous parameters.

So, the real ROI is the enjoyment and experience of driving and racing one of these cars for all of those years.

Personally, I wouldn't want to be the one with a 24 mile car that I never enjoyed. That just reduces it to real dollars, and unless you get ~~$175k-$200k for this car, you have lost money!!
