four of the intake manifold bolt holes are a no go at this stage and the manifold is a perfect fit on the heads at 60K.

As they say there is a tool for every job. Gentle application needed here-very gentle.... Hole elongation - is now the only way out - or in this instance the only way to get the bolts in! Engine is back together. Significant delay due to the decision to move to a better set of 074 castings. A new set of heads were located and installed. These 074's were a vast improvement over the last set, but still required seperate helicoil installation in three areas to achieve proper bolt down torque. All three areas looked to have excellent thread condition, but failed when specified torque was applied.
