[ QUOTE ]
Just remember that some of these people share their valuable knowledge with us for free. Knowledge that you otherwise would have to pay for, one way or the other. These people are also probably members on many sites. So don´t chase them away, but let us who want to, donate. ![]() [/ QUOTE ] Very good point. Always try to look from both perspectives. |

I was a member till it ran out a few weeks ago. It will be renewed soon. As stated earlier, some of us belong to other sites and also other clubs. For example, I pay out for ACES, AACA, Yenko, and Team Chevelle, not to mention all the local clubs, and out of town shows, hotel rooms, gas, tolls, food. I've given plenty of advise on TC to none members. I know some are young and can't afford to join multiple sites. Some guys just have to cut back for financial reasons. If they contribute to the site with advise and knowledge, that might be worth more than some realize.

I think maybe the stars are becoming not a good thing ? If the stars become a indicator of who can't afford to donate then I think we need to do something different. We appreciate the donations but this is not supposed to be a pressure thing where people feel guilty if they don't have stars under their name. If you ever look at the top of the page and click on "Who's online" you will see that there are usually more non registered people than there are registered. Some of them choose to remain non registered but do donate thru paypal of the mail in support of the site. Any thoughts on how to lessen the pressure of not having stars ? Are some staying non registered and remaining silent because they can't afford to donate ? I really think we need to address that. You don't need to own a supercar to be a participating member here and you shouldn't have to be pressured donation wise to be a member either and I'm thinking the stars might be doing just that.

Charley are you kidding? What is this world coming to??? "you shouldn't have to be pressured donation wise to be a member either and I'm thinking the stars might be doing just that" Is the world full of that many sissy's? Just like the kids who participate in sports now of days where "every ones a winner." Total bull$hit.
This site has been a cash register to many people or a brake for some like me with getting the opportunity to own a supercar and learn. I paid for my damn stars not because I care if I have stars next to my name but because I wanted to support the place where my extended family can get together and BS about cars. I agree that non members shouldn't be pressured but to change the rules so a few sensitive artist's don't get offended is absolutely ludicrous. Next thing you know you won't be able to say Merry Christmas in fear that you might offend somebody........

As far as I remember the starting price of membership is not much more than a magazine subscription. I know I am glued more to the site than a magazine....
The stars just indicated member status and not the amount you paid be it the minimum or maximum for admission. Am I wrong? I don't really see an issue with them...

I think if you made a donation you should get a small avatar of Charleys face next to your name.

Well said Charley and good point. The only time I even pay attention to who is a member or not is when someone either runs their mouth off with a negative opinion or they just sold a part for bookoo bucks. That is not right. If you are going to make a profit here, why not contribute to the place that gave you that opportunity. I also agree with the pressure issue as sometimes people may feel like they cannot make a comment or offer help because they are not paid up. There have been many people here that have actually paid for someone elses subscription to sYc because for what ever reason, they could not do it. That is called "Team".

I actually like the way this site is set up. On some other sites they have areas for paying members only...It kind of seperates the group so to speak...
This site has so many people with so much knowledge that I thought it was worth supporting...Hey I found my car here! Like Darren said, to join at the minimum level...you would pay the same amount of $$$ as a magazine subscription...and I enjoy this site WAY more than a magazine. I like that both paid members and non paid members of this site can enjoy all the facets of this site. We should look into doing a yearly car calendar of members cars that could be sold for the month of December...it would make a great Christmas present... ![]()
