OK ... you asked for it.

Here are some engine compartment shots that I just took while it was inside my trailer. (Had to move it out of the shop for a gearhead party I had last Saturday). Sorry they are a little fuzzy ... but you get the idea.

I DO have the original radiator cap and fan shroud.

If it was 100% untouched I'd say leave it be, but if i'm thinking that at least the block has been repainted once already... if thats the case, I'm still voting to clean that girl up. I hear a clean engine compartment is good for 3/10ths anyhow.

Leave it as it with a light cleaning of those dirty or corroded parts. I've come to appreciate the original cars more and more over the years. As time goes on I believe that the original cars will be appreciated even more. Once the engine compartment is restored or fluffed there is no going back. The engine compartment on my '66 was fluffed and the rest of the car is so original that it is a shame it was done. It would be 100% original if someone didn't paint the engine all nice and orange. Yellow is my all time favorite.

Leave it alone......all we see is nice shiny engine compartments....all else is left alone....why do the compartment...I'll PM you some pics of a nasty compartment later on !

I'm in with this opinion ! I constantly see freshly painted
engines & compartments. They are nice to look at, but you
tend to get tired of seeing the same old thing. I love the
BB engine compartment, but let's face it - they all look
pretty much the same. I would really love to see a "back
in the day" engine compartment once in a while. With that
being said, do some touch-up, but don't make it new.

It's a little hard to tell, but the chrome valve covers look
pretty darn nice with little surface rust showing. If that
is the case, leave it alone. Just seeing these pictures
takes me back to the mid-1970's, as that was what most of
the engine compartments I worked in looked like.

Don't go changing, to try and please me
You never let me down before
Don't imagine you're too familiar
And I don't see you anymore

I wouldn't leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, I'll take the bad times
I'll take you just the way you are

Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care

I don't want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that I can talk to
I want you just the way you are.

I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you.

I said I love you and that's forever
And this I promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.

Casey, do want to drive it, or just stare at it? Leave it alone, they're only original once.
