Cool car Bill. A schoolmate of mine bought a new '67 390 GTA. IMPRESSIVE!

I just had a short term affair with something from the Blue Oval family myself. I'm not ashamed to admit it would have been very easy to hang on to that car. I guess as we get older we appreciate ALL the ones that have survived, no matter what plant they came from!

Congrats to the new owner.

COOL! That is a beautiful car. Did you stop and get a Maid-Rite on the way home?

Dennis,

I couldn't agree more!! Even though I am primarily a Chevy guy, I like 'em all, and have always thought the 66-67 Fairlane was a sharp looking car.

Darren,

What the heck is a Maid-Rite Whatever it is, we didn't have one!

One interesting thing we found was that the mid-grade (89 octane) gas was 5 to 10 cents per gallon cheaper than 87 octane regular in Iowa, evidently because it contains more ethanol (corn-based) than the other grades. Whatever, it ran just fine in my Tahoe pulling the car & trailer

Hey D, do you have Maid Rites in your area? We still have one in Springfield but I thought they were almost extinct.

Love the Home-Made Root Beer!

Maid-Rite = kind of a sloppy joe sandwich without the slop. They call em loose meat sandwiches. We don't have any out in my area.

On a parts run I took to Iowa last year I made plans to get one. There was one off the highway with a huge sign. I wasn't that hungry and figured I would get one on the way back. As I drove I passed a few more but wanted to hit that one on the highway. On the drive back I was starved. Finally got there only to discover that the place was closed. A Saturday to!
No Maid-Rite for me.

Springfield = Cozy Dog

Very nice Bill. You did well. The Bettendorf Maid Rite is where the Quad Cities Cruisers cruise to. Very good milk shakes. Still big around here. You can almost hear your veins slammin shut.
