I don't know, Verne. If a guy just wants to go out and get some attention and blow a few minds, I think you're better off leaving it as-is. To have the same visual impact that is has now as a SuperBeater, you'd have to go all out on paint, body, and interior. And once you did an ISCA level job on the cosmetics, would you really want to do full length burnouts or take it to the burger stand? Not that I don't like pretty cars, but if you do an average restoration on this car ($5K to 8K paint, new repro interior, etc) it just becomes another nice Nova (albeit with an extraordinary drivetrain). I'd be in the "as-is" category of buyers.
As a former owner of Jim Hughes' old 11-second turbocharged '72 Nova which looked all the world like a granny car with a set of Rally wheels on it, I believe there is still fun to be had on the "walk softly and carry a Really Big Stick" side of the hobby
