There was a B5 blue 70 cuda that was wrecked with less than 10k miles on it that sat for a very long time outside a business a few towns up US 30. Hit in the back very hard. Bent the frame rails, shoved it all ahead, not pretty. I looked at it a couple of times as it had a dana under it. The guy where it set claimed it was a 383 727 ordered with the drag pak 4.10. It was a column shift, no frills piece. Claimed the guy bought it as a budget street brawler, and was real fast while it lasted. I did not see the fender tag.
I did go check my 70 challenger book though, and you are right in that it doesn't show it being offered for a 383.
Is it possible it was a special order?

NO GO with the 383 the lowest poss. gear was the 3:91 8 3/4 it was called the (high performance axle package) the only way you could get a lower gear was to order a bigger engine.it was quickly discovered that a b-body dana was like 2 inches narrower than the e-body so alot of people put the b-body dana in the cuda challenger body so they could run a bigger tire under the factory wheel houses. but i would be willing to bet the fender tag would have proved the car to be a v or r code..

Ok. That is the only one I ever saw like that, so you're probably right about the guy not knowing it had been replaced.
You're right too about the length on those danas, and how well they fit under Ebodys. Mine was a 440 4spd super drag pac 4.10. Somewhere in it's life the rear was replaced with a b body short dana. And yes, there's room for big tires.

70 challenger R/T S/E 440 mag A833 4spd dana 3.55 hemi orange/blk vinyl top.

OK,
Here's the scoop. Real RT car, 383 Orig, real 4 speed car orig, but was brown with white int originally. Here are some pics. The Tag was in his attick, and he's gong to get it down. It has all of the chrome, and other misc parts.
He was going to put after market gauges in it, which you can see in the pics. It has the big block radiator that some of you told me to look for. It also has some sort of adjustable rear wing option. He is going to get the tag and dash pad out of his attick this week. The tag on the 70 challengers is held on with screws. He says that the VINs on the tag, dash and all parts match.

Still deciding, it is a little more of a project than I remembered, but paint and mechanicals are done.

It has had a floor replacement, LH fender replacement, and Toe Boards replaced.

Check to see if the original pistol grip shifter is still around. You can get them rebuilt good as new.
That would be a go wing. Hemibee, were they factory, or dealer installed. I was thinking dealer.
I can't tell for sure, but there should be cut outs on the tailpan for the exhaust tips. (pricey)

The tan (FT5, I think?) is pretty rare on these cars. The tag will be helpful because there's plenty of rare trim options available, like the stripe. As-is, it has a '71 stripe. Looking forward to seeing what you find out . . .

Mopar value is a function of motor, color, transmission (prefer 4spd), options (esp shaker hood with e-body), and drivetrain being original to car. Original fender tag and buildsheet essential. Here is a '70 Challenger R/T 440 6pk Super Trac Pac(4.10), Go Mango, 4spd, rear wing, shaker, alligator skin roof, born with drivetrain, and all coded for on buildsheet and fender tag.

OK,
First, Thanks Guys! Looks like my brother (Joe) really wants this car. He is on this site, and has a 69 Camaro as well. It stays in the family. We will make sure and send some pics of the tag when it comes out of the attick.
