Just a quick response about the thread:
1) HEY FELLAS IT IS CALLED CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM.... NOBODY IS BASHING ANYONE'S CAR.. Overall I think everyone here likes the car 1A) Here are the resounding comments of support on the car- Guys, check this one out!! Just from a quick glance the air cleaner needs "to go". I never knew there was such a color as "phantom blue" I think he means FATHOM BLUE.. "we worked tirelessly trying to not miss a detail" ~ Pete Never seen that air cleaner on a nova. While it may be dual snorkle, it's not the kind I've seen on 70 L 78 applications. Grille could use a little black, and the SS emblem this car has repop deluxe seat covers, repop deluxe door panels with the original sun-faded handles....has potential..but like so many others..lacks in the details. 2) people who want to advertise a car for sale here should look at the positive side of the collective knowledge available If you dont want these remarks made about your vechicle, you shouldnt participate in this public forum 2A) I agree- If someone is interested in purchasing a car or if a car owner comes to the board looking for opinions, by all means have at it. That’s what this board has always been known for. What disturbs me is that the policy has now degenerated into just randomly bringing every nice car to the attention of the board and judging it. Most of these cars that are being judged are not introduced to the board by owners or potential buyers, but rather just members that surf the net. And the worst part is, almost all of these vehicles are being judged on a few pics and bits of info on the internet. In most cases, no one visits the car in person, calls the owner, or even invites him to the board to defend himself. Which leads to problem 3- 3) THERE ARE EXPERTS ON THIS SITE THAT ARE A WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE WHEN IT COMES TO CERTAIN CARS AND I VALUE THEIR CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM AND EXPERT KNOWLEDGE.. 3A) There certainly are. Again, that’s the way it used to be. When a question came up, the experts in that particular field would share their knowledge. However, that has also deteriorated to the point that now EVERYBODY with an opinion on a car throws their 2 cents in. You guys evidently have short memories or don’t go back in old threads. I challenge all of you to read the old threads critiquing cars. Some are 5 and 6 pages long. Because I have been in the hobby and the business so long, I have had hands on experience with many of the vehicles that were discussed in this forum- I’ve seen vin numbers and stampings questioned that I know are right- I’ve seen cars given the seal of approval that I know are not right. Mistakes have been made here because too many opinions are being put forth rather than fact. You have to remember that every time you discuss a car and start going negative, you are casting a cloud of suspicion on it. A cloud of suspicion that hundreds of visitors see when they visit. I’ve had contact with several of these sellers and know for a fact that the cloud that this site put over a car adversely affected the sale. You have assisted in the sale of hundreds of cars, but you have also sabotaged many unjustly. Which leads to problem 4- 4) This is a site " Dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the Chevrolet dealer built Supercars and COPO cars" 4A) Therein lies another big problem. Many of you judge all cars by the strict Supercar standards. You forget that when dealing with higher volume production cars, many anomalies exist- things were changed on the assembly line due to breakage, shortage of parts, etc. Dealers added and subtracted things. Not every production car can be judged by the facts in a book. Not every production car was built to a strict, mistake proof standard and should not be judged as such. In many cases, a part may be incorrect according to all the books, but may actually be the part that was installed on the car. Also, many cars are judged by you as if the sellers were asking top retail price, and in many cases the car is priced at a very reasonable amount- leaving money on the table to fix things that aren’t 100% perfect. I apologize to Pete and all other members for popping off. I didn’t mean to get excited and I know there are a great bunch of knowledgeable guys on this board. It just hit a nerve on the L78 Nova- that is a documented, numbers matching, 45K original mile car that was completely disassembled and in the shop for a year- and the best you guys could do was that it had the wrong air cleaner, a repop interior, possible faded door handles, needed detail, and the guy couldn’t spell Fathom Blue. Didn’t think that was an accurate portrayal of the car. As always, Randy |

FWIW if you look at the air cleaner on the T-37 in this thread; it looks very much like the one on the Nova.

The air cleaner on the Nova looks like 68-72 Pontiac 400 dual snorkel with the vacuum pods removed.
