No worries there - he's as republican as an 8 year old can be

We're getting closer! The 12.90 engine is on, and the punch list is much shorter. The NHRA license is here, and the big shed for the back yard came at 6am this morning (need to stash Danny's '67 Camaro, and get it out of the box trailer!). Looks like we just might make it to the track this weekend for the inaugural - most likely will be Maple Grove, should get 3 runs in.

Got a logo designed and installed - old school, hand cut, layered vinyl done by a local guru:

The 'little' 12.90 Raptor engine, I hope it runs somewhere close to 12.90 - these things are hard to slow down!

Got the 28mm carb fully attached, slick billet parts galore on these Jr's

I won't be able to keep little Danny out of his car now that it will be stashed in the new shed, we frequently find him climbing around in the car if/when I leave the trailer door open

Can't wait to see Benjamin go down the track for the first time. Will post more pics when I can. It's been an extremely busy 3 months as we thrash our way to the starting line, I need a break - Benjamin wants to go the ECF's already!!

Thanks, if all goes well over the next few days, I don't think either of us will sleep much on Saturday night - Jr's run first on Sunday morning, right before 9am ('cause their 'quieter' ).

Good luck, and stay safe. And....trust me, as he gets older, it will only get more expensive. RACE (Racin Ain't Cheap Entertainment), but it's a lot of fun. Tell mom she needs to get a job to help defray the costs of you're racing program. See how that flies. (big smile)

Thanks all.

Safety First:

1. Child specific, racing helmet, DOT & SNELL approved, properly dated with clear visor and changeable interior padding.

2. Child sized neck collar (if this 'hobby' sticks, will upgrade to a HANS device next year).

3. Fire Resistant racing jacket.

4. Fire Resistant racing gloves.

5. Arm Restraints.

5. Fire Resistant racing pants.

6. Fire Resistant racing shoes.

7. Gear Bag - color and brand matched to all the gear.

There was one area where we didn't scrimp a penny, all of the above! It's all brand new, properly sized, but not cheap. The parent makes the decision to send their child down the track - and these things are NOT toys, they are a serious racecar, especially for an 8 year old! So, the safety stuff is good insurance that there will be a bunch of big 'ole smiles at the big end!

M..you are right, good insurance. Even though safety gear is not cheap, a lot cheaper then a trip to the ER.
