motor update..bad news good news. . second short block..crank is NFG, one bore needs a sleeve...but I'm a problem solver so here's my solution. Sleeve the one cylinder..go 030 on all 8 holes. I have H beam rods already so all that remains is the crank...new Eagle unit on its way!...I'm balls deep now, lets finish it up right! Yep -- as been said before ... seems these's never enough time to do something right the first time, but these's always enough time to do it over ... TAZ

Nice job as usual Eric.

My solicited opinion is that since it's not the original block and they are not too difficult to find....... Going .030-.040 or even .060 over is not an issue with OLDS, always sonic test at .060.

I would not sleeve just one clyinder on a common block and the likelihood that the stock cylinders will spec out for a Performance application and once torque / hone plates are used is about nill.

Stefano, I respectfully disagree with your opinion on sleeping one cyl. I know who will be doing the machine work and installing the sleeve. I'd bet the outcome will be favorable. I'm close friends with the engine builder and have no problem with his talent, ability and ideas.
That carb does look awesome! Does Eric do any performance upgrades to the carbs he rebuilds?
To answer the question about my Diamond Pistons.....they were purchased several years ago and there no quality issues.

I'm not questioning the integrity of sleeving a clyinder. I have two engines at our machine shop getting a single sleeve right now. One is an LS3 and the other is an OLDS 455.

Maybe I misunderstood, I thought AL was considering a sleeve to keep the block all standard. Custom pistons can be made if he doesn't want to go .030. but .030 over on an OLDS or more is generally not an issue.
