Tim and Rat Pack,
Thanks for all the info. I am in the market for an original stingerless hood, used or nos none the less. I have a poor pic of the original hood that Fred had installed, it appears to show an airbox for a single 4bbl., and a side lip about 1/2" wide. The pic was from pre-xram shots. Did GM do any experimental hoods? |

Ken back in 67 Joels original design was a metal hood with the fiberglass stinger scoop insert ,it was actually bonded to the metal hood .He went with all fiberglass due to a poor bonding agent in which the piece lifted do to stress. The airboxes were also carried by motion. An original hood is harder than finding the car itself.I wouldn't see any problem with converting a motion hood until an original can be found, its a simple process of removing the stinger and smoothing it out. I've seen a couple corvette hoods with the airbox that can be utilized at reasonable prices.P.S. I should have picked them up.

djunod, like copolocater said, check Hemmings as Don Hughey is always advertising in there. Now his hood is about double the price of the VFN hood but the quality is better.
As far as doing a C5 stinger hood, I think it is already in the works by a major parts supplier. If I can, I will check into it for you later this week. Right now I am trying to get my car ready to paint this weekend so I am a wet sanding fool right now..................RatPack............... copolocater: who do you know that had boat manufacturing knowledge?
