They actually do have a dark shadow gray/black exhaust tip and reverse lights valence.

Maybe it's just me but that 2nd pic seems to have an awful lot of orange peel (above the plate) for an 85K car.

Those things are so brutal that they could be rattle can grey primer though...fun.
