Steve, that’s good advice for anyone mounting any tires on any wheels on muscle cars whether that be From Magnum 500s to stamped steel factory, or anything offered before about the late 80s. They almost always need to be lug centric balanced. All the newer cars are hub centric due to the wheel being machined, but the old muscle car wheels can’t be done that way since that center hole is really only there to clear the dust cap and hold the center cap on and as such, isn’t centered.
Beautiful car! Sorry to hear about the original owner. You done good!! Cheers Dave |

Thank you! Actually, I have not gotten this set balanced as I couldn't find a local shop I could trust with them. I mounted them myself on my buddy's old machines but his balancer doesn't have a lug-centric mounting hub so I will have to wait.
BTW, I took Enrico's car out for a second drive this year. I went back to the local cruise night again, for their last cruise of the year which was the rescheduled Pontiac night from an earlier rain date back in July. Enrico's car got the Best Pontiac Trophy. :-) Last edited by njsteve; 10-26-2019 at 07:52 PM. |

Sounds like you and the car had a great time, Steve. Hows it drive with unbalanced tires?
I hope he haunts that car, the messages he'd write on the glass would be hilarious. Quote:

I has the typical out of balance condition at around 50 mph and phases out of it at 55. Other than that it's fine.
Yes, Enrico is still critiquing from his great workshop in the sky. That's why I bought the new tires. He would consider that an appropriate toast to his "relocation" rather than just tipping an alcoholic beverage. Cheers! |
