Darren,
Here is a link to the Blue Turquoise Z/28 we sold. The car was amazingly (is that a word?) original. Only thing missing was the smog equipment but the pump bracket was still on the car.

WOW !

That Coronet R/T is a rare bird ! I don't think that I have ever seen a '69 B-body with a luggage rack ?? Notice how it is in front of the butt-stripe ? My 70 Charger SE 500 has a luggage rack, and that is rare, but a '69 Coronet .... WOW. And it is a correct B-body luggage rack too ! As they are unique, and different from the E-bodies, which are more popular. Neat car.

Hmm so are we going to see this one at action this winter? "Now's your chance to own the car that was seen on eBay! But this time there is no reserve!" Seems like an attention getter action to me. Now the seller needs to have it featured in a few magazines this summer or fall.

[ QUOTE ]
Just to add a little bit to the stripes thing here is a picture of a Z/28 we just sold and it had original paint. The car had been off the road since 1975 and was found in a barn in PA. We believe the stripes are original to the car.

[/ QUOTE ] Jeff, your Z looked to be an outstanding original car, but I don't think the tailpan stripes look original to it. It's hard to tell in the pics, but it looks like the small surrounding stripes are applied with parts store pinstriping tape. Notice the thick/thin surrounding pin stripes edging the wide stripes on the tail pan. I think the hood and decklid stripes are most likely unmolested, but it looks like someone simply extended them onto the deck edge/tailpan. I'd bet any money those thin stipes around the outside were tape, but again JMO. Great car in a great color. I'm surprised AT wasn't more popular back in '69, it looks great trimmed in black.

Who's Jeff? Anyways, I'll take that bet. That is not tape. When I got about 4 inches away from the car I could tell it was paint and not tape. Those stripes are painted on, including the small stripes and are very old. Now granted, they could have been added very early in the life of the car but who knows. When we sold the car we never claimed the stripes to be original. When comparing both cars, the stripes are painted pretty close to identical including the deck lid strip underneath the spoiler. I find it interesting that both cars are X33D80 as well.

But here's the kicker. We must be doing something wrong because he got $150,000 for a car that has obvious correctness issues (nice battery cable clamps) and we sell an original unrestored Z/28 for $25,000.

Times, they are a changing.

If you look close at the baby blue car the stripes are not the same as the car you sold Rick. On the baby blue car the stripes go all the way to the glass on the rear deck...

Dennis- Check it again. That is correct for a vinyl top car.
