Your right Joe, cal-custom, Edelbrock and a few others were used. In the '69 car catalog he just shows MT & Edelbrock--I guess they wanted to show the performance names of the day.
I'm gonna agree with you Joe, that PROBABLY no "Motion" emblems were made available until '70 sometime.I remember asking several times ,even towards the holidays in '69, and they were still unvailable.
COPO--the closest I can backtrack the availability of those "Motion" emblems is somewhere in the 2nd half of '70,but this is not written in stone.
Joe, you do have a Great collection--
Hey Frank, How's the new place--
My Chevelle had the factory chrome valve covers, with a Mylar Motion Supercar Club sticker on one and a Mylar MP sticker on the other--I did manage to get a Mylar MP sticker, but haven't seen the Mylar Motion Supercar Club stickers around---Joe might have them floating around-----

I'am sure Marty's Motion book will be good but I don't think he will have a lot of detail about correct retorations of the cars. When I talked to Marty and Joel they didn't seem to care a lot about small details. They said (jokingly) that me and the other Motion nuts were like Star Track fans. They thought it was funny that people were so interested in what parts were used on what date. Even when Joel restored his cars he didn't use all period correct parts. He used parts that were close but not "exactly" the same as the way a restoration "nut" would do it. For example, on the alu valve covers, they said they were sure that alu valve covers were used in the 60s. Then I asked "but was the alu valve cover with the rectangle in center used in 1969" Then they would say "well....".
I don't expect someone to remember a small detail from 30yrs ago so dated pictures are a better source for small detail. I hope the book has some photos that were never published as they may answer some questions.

I asked Marty that very question

here is what he said in a email to me. =

-----------------------------------------------
"Great Larry.
The book is dragging along because of interesting cars and stories popping up. Some real; some fakes. Takes lots of time. We just found a Motion Camaro in"
--------------------------------------------------

This is just a little teaser for you guys. SO; Please don't ask for the rest of what he said as I don't feel like I should post it unless he himself wants it known before his book comes out.

I hope you will understand that I want to try to help Marty with his book and he has contacted me about both of my cars. His only time frame that he conveyed to me was sometime next year with all the new info he has been receiving. I wish he would share more of it with me but alas he has not. I guess we will all have to buy the book to find out "the rest of the story".

So any of you that know anything be sure to email him and let him know what you have and he may want to put it in the book. Needless to say I am doing all I can to get the truth on my '69 so that it can be in his book as a "real Motion" and not a "un documented maybe". As Marty said, it is a "Landmark Car" if it can be documented.

So I am sure all of us, will be setting on our hands waiting to see what comes out in the book. I know I am just dying to see it, but like he says, It will be even better the longer it takes, when more cars come out of the woodwork.

I thought I would post this to encourage all Motion owners and memorabilia collectors to try to help out as quickly as possible getting information to Marty Schorr.

This book will be great for the hobby.

Dan

Dan:
Sounds great. I can work with slides, prints or digital. If he wants to shoot digital what I will need is a CD burned with reproduction quality images that can be read by a PC or Mac computer.
Project is coming along slowly but surely. In order to get it right it takes time. A number of people promised to help with info and some pix of their cars and delivered nothing. Others, like yourself, have been a wonderful help. We are tracking down some interesting cars.
I'll keep you posted on progress.
Thanks again,
Marty

Dan, same photos as on the SCR6 CD, just juiced up for professional printing. The ones you have ought to work well enough for any non-publishing work.

But let me know...
