"We only planned on selling about 400 Z/28s in 1968 - but instead we had 7000 orders. Boy, there are kids out there, and they have money. And when they hear that Mark Donahue cleans up in Trans-Am with a Z/28, they've just got to have one for themselves. In 1969, we plan to sell 27,000. Can you image? 27,000" . . . Chevrolet General Manager Pete Estes touting strong Z/28 sales figures in the 1968 October issue of Motor Trend magazine |

Did they actually sell a Malibu SS 350 car with cowl induction? Does anyone know what the decals are on the door?

Many times, because of timing, the ad companies would get a car to work with to create ads that wasn't a finished product. Some like the Chevelle were cobbled together by Chevy. Some had no drivetrain and had to be pushed around instead of driven. Last edited by Lee Stewart; 05-17-2019 at 10:18 PM. |

No they did not.It was a quick 350 cid car they mocked up to look like a Super Sport for these pics back then. The decals on the door are to induce a Red Baron theme and those were his kills.Advertising idea only. |
