Informational poll? I love those! Ok, possibly
Dolomite und Rot (dark gray and red) is a winner amongst many when I show them that picture. It’s stunning in person too. That color with a cognac interior is also pretty classy. But I saw that color combo (red interior) in real life and it stopped me in my tracks I know, Joe. I usually have this all down and decided, and I did, but then I changed my mind. So basically, the two colors original in my plan were that Graphite and Silver Blue (shades equal to those). My 63 is silver blue and I don’t want two of the same color cars. I am with all you guys on that color with a red interior is pretty slick and on that Slabside it’s killer. If I were to build a Cobra, that’s what it would be. I’m leaning back on the Dolomite (Graphite) and Red inside, black top. I think… Cheers Dave Last edited by A12pilot; 07-04-2023 at 07:26 PM. |

Nine times out of ten, the first thought you have in your head is usually the best choice. Whatever you pick Dave, it's going to be awesome.

Personally (not that any one gives a rat's a$$), I think Silver or White exterior really show off the lines of the 507 better than any other colors. Silver with a hint of blue would be good too. In the 80s BMW made a bunch of silver blue cars with darker blue interiors (not quite a Navy, but pretty dark). One of my favorite combos.
As for interior, I just do not like red interiors. I know they are hugely popular, but they just make me cringe. Given how true to an original you have made the body, I think it would be a shame to use a color combo that was not offered from the factory.

I like the bluish gray one with the red interior and silver wheels the best but those huge white walls don't do it any favors. I don't think you can go wrong Dave, it's going to be stunning no matter which combination you choose.
FWIW(not much), I love red and saddle interiors in leather or vinyl but don't care for them at all in cloth for some reason. |

Thanks guys for the thoughts. I value everyone’s opinions as they are good to hear and provide help no matter how small it may be. Plenty of time to decide. I’ve been looking at new cars and when I see a color that resembles an original hue I take note for future reference. The steel blue in that first photo is harder to match than you may think. Most are also resprays in BC/CC and are not true to original color. I’d rather not due a metallic color or if it is, very, very fine like the more pastel looking blues/grays on the modern cars have. I don’t think the heavy flake of modern metallics does justice to the lines.

If you are looking for a really bright silver that pops (with a red interior, of course) look at the Polaris Silver of the late 1970's early 1980's. I had a 1981 635CSI grey market car that looked incredible in that color. It really showed off the body lines perfectly. Last edited by njsteve; 07-05-2023 at 01:35 PM. |

----I always liked Pewter Silver that was available on many GM lines in 1972. I ordered my 72GP that color. It's sort of a creamy silver that looks great on any car!....Bill S
