Re: First Car
[ QUOTE ]
Mine was in 1974..65 Impala SS 327/300 PG...pad 325 for it...Verne I'm going to guess a 53 Chevy [/ QUOTE ] Mine was in '72, and was close to yours. My dad bought me a '63 Impala SS 'vert 283/auto for a buck! My uncle was going to trade it in, but my father talked him into transferring the title to me for one-dollar. I roasted the trans, so it sat for a year. Then, my mother had it junked!!! Wish I had a photo, but more so...wish I had the CAR!

Re: First Car
My first Car was a 1963 Impala SS. Car was a 409 340hp with a powerglide. My Buddy that Owned it was Building a Thames wagon with an Injected Small Block and needed to sell the Imp to finance the Thames. This was Oct of 76. His Dad was A Sergeant with the Seattle Police Department,he sold me the Car for $225. I had that Car excactly half hour before Breaking the Rear end doing a Block Long Burnout. The nice thing about Jeffs dad being a Cop, all the Cops knew the Car so they would not bother me. Heck they even helped me get it home when I broke the rear end.

Re: First Car
[ QUOTE ]
That's funny and reminds me of the first time I drove a car. I was 13 also... [/ QUOTE ] Wow, you guys started driving late in life! I actually drove a car alone for the first time at age eight! My Dad worked for an implement dealer and needed to pick up a farm truck to take in for some service. I went with him to the farmer's house; he drove the truck back and I drove our '51 Chevy home. My Mom almost killed him when she found out! As for the first car.... it was a '57 BelAir Hardtop/283 "PowerPack", 3 speed. Still Have It! When I bought it, the original 4 barrel was gone and it had a two barrel on it. Wasn't that way long as I replaced it with a 780 Holley and a '65 L79 intake. (She never starved for fuel! ) The previous owner, who I knew, had run dual AFB's, but took them off when he sold it. It now sits ready to accept a fresh LT-1 with correct appearing Dual WCFB's. I'm the second owner, and the original owner called me a couple of years ago asking about buying it back. I think I'll just hang on to it.

Re: First Car
Cool thread! My first car was a '69 Chevy pickup....small block/3-tree. . The crazy thing is it was factory purple! . I painted it w/ grey spray bombs as the color sure seemed dumb at the time. . I sold it in '79....never thought about looking at trim tags back then? . Anyone know if purple was a factory color choice? ~ Pete

Re: First Car
Hugger Orange 70 Nova, 307, floor mounted 3 speed. $2400 + tax + fees, out the door from Egizio Chev-Olds, Naperville IL, in June 1970. Sold it 5 months later (wasn't fast enough) to a friend who promptly rolled it. It was within a few $$$ of being totalled, but it got fixed and painted blue. He drove it for many years and had way over 100K on the clock when he got rid of it. If I had bought the Citrus green 70 1/2 Z28 RS that I really wanted, I might still have it Payments on the Z were gonna be $140/mo. and I was sure I couldn't afford it. Payments on the Nova were $77/mo.....and I made double payments on it every month
