Waht a nice guy. Mickey Mantle used to host a golf tourney up at Grand Lake in NE Oklahoma each year. Lots of old ball players came.
In 1992, when my youngest boy was 12, I took him up there to meet Mickey, Yogi Berra, Bobby Murcer, Warren Spahn and about 50 other old timers. If one made a donation to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, then you were free to roam around and hawk all the autographs you wanted.

Some of the old guys were cranky (no names) and didn't even want to give autographs. Stan the man put my son up in the golf cart with him, put his arm around him and had a very nice conversation about baseball, family and the like. Even when it was time to tee off, Stan stayed there talking with my son because he could tell how genuinely interested he was.

My son still has all the autographs from that weekend, but his biggest thrill was the time he spent with Stan Musial. What a great guy.
