Reserves definitely take away a lot of the excitement.

A reserve auction is basically the same thing as a no reserve with shill bidders

Some of the cars are already bid up to more than I think they are worth. It appears most people think since it is a fed auction it must be a deal. Going to look at them tomorrow as it's only about 5 miles away. If a member here buys anything I can probably store it here till you get it picked up.

How do you know if a car has met reserve or not? Am I missing something?

All I can see is what they are bid up to.

If I understand their description correctly, they will not specify the reserves, or even specify if the highest bid has exceeded the reserve. At the end of the auction for each lot a federal authority (maybe in conjunction with the owners?) will review the highest bid for that lot and then decide to sell it or not, at which time the high bidder will be notified. Pretty strange. But my guess is that all lots with any sort of reasonable high bid will get sold.

Quoted from their site:
“Auction Conducted with Reserve.
The United States Marshals Service reserves the right to approve the final offer made by the successful high bidder, even after the auction lot closes and auctioneer announces "Sold." The reserve amounts will not be disclosed to the public, and there will not be a "Reserve Met" or "Reserve Not Met" disclosure during the auction.”

Very kind of you Charley.

You could drive the Bonneville, buy a couple of the vintage Fiat 500's and put them in the trunk.

Having a hard time believing some of the bids.
