Default L78 Nova fan

Does anyone know the reason a 1969 L78 Nova has the fan blades not evenly spaced ? I believe this is the only year it is.

I think it's the same fan as 70 L78. I've been told it has to do with noise and drone (frequency).

The 5 blade staggered fan bladed is not unique to the 69-70 Nova. There were a number of other fan blades used on other Chevy models that had a similar design. There were even some with a clutch setup that had the staggered pattern. As for the purpose, I can only assume there was some 'engineering reason' for this...I can tell you that most BB Nova owners back in the day ditched the steel fan for a flex version. The factory 5 blade fan made a terrible noise when you got to about 3,000 rpm...sounded like a blower.
