It's a little surprising that no previous owner elected to run a report on it but I'm not complaining! Charlie Lingenfelter had his red Yenko '67 Z on display at MCACN in 2017 and Bud Gates raced a red '67 Yenko Z-28 Stormer at Sebring. This is the third red '67 Z from Yenko. It is documented that Yenko ordered '67 Zs in three colors, Bolero Red, Ermine White, and Marina Blue and three of each color. I believe this car that I bought is the "Volpe, Pizzi, Rose" drag car that had Yenko sponsorship. I spoke to Ollie Volpe back in 2011 about the car (he confirmed he bought a red Yenko Z) as I wondered if Lingenfelter's car might be his but it turned out the history of that car was known back to new. Ollie told me that he scraped the dum-dum (sound deadener) off the inside of the door skins when preparing the car for SS/E. When I removed the door panel over the weekend I found it all scraped off like Ollie said. The doors and glass are all dated right for the car.
Olds racers hang out at my shop, Tony Pizzi's name has come up, he was a hard core go fast guy out of Phil, mainly back then did heads, was always very fast in his time. I was told in 1970 he ran a white 67 that ran 11.65.

Very true except it was a '68 that had some '67 tail lights in it. Very fast, very competitive racer who knew and hung out with the best of the best from that era.

Love the detail Jon and glad I helped with something for the car. I’m with Darrell as that would be cool to have as a driver but looking like it did in 67 race trim. By the way, I was at the 67 super stock nationals at Cecil County, MD. Even have some pics of cars like Dyno Don’s 67 comet that blew blower off and busted the back plexiglass around both sides of his head. Again great car and another great find.

Thanks, Joe C. Yes, that Corvette was raced by Ollie Volpe prior to him getting my red Z. I like the saddle interior in the Vette rather than the typical black.

Thanks, Chick. I always appreciate your help with parts and beyond that you're just a great friend. The lettering on the car is cool but we'll see. I'd like to find more pics from its history.

I don't know why but, this looks like it could have been taken at Atco (although I'm sure a lot of tracks look similar)

I don't know what the background looked like at Atco but it's certainly one of the tracks he would have raced at.
