Tony DeLorenzo campaigned very successfully in A-production with this L88 during the 1967 season, placing second within his Central Division. That regional success secured his spot in the yearend national championship runoffs, aka the ARRC (American Road Race of Champions). In 1967 that race took place at Daytona raceway. Tony and this car battled a legion of 427 Cobras, and ended up placing a very respectable second. First place was taken by Dick Smith and his 427 Cobra. The rivalry between the Corvettes and the Cobras at that time was ferocious, and all efforts were made by both sides to oust the competition. Here's a great interview with Dick Smith in Super Ford Magazine from June 1982, in particular take a look at the story he shares on the last page of this article about the GM folks and this 1967 ARRC race.
