Something you very rarely ever see: NASCAR stock cars with windshield wipers. Photo taken 8/4/18 at Watkins Glen, NY

Belgica Antarctica - the only insect that is native to Antarctica along with being the only insect found in Antarctica. It's a very tiny wingless fly less than a 1/4 inch in size.

The strongest insect is the Horned Dung Beetle which can pull 1,141 times it's own body weight

To put that in prospective. If a 200 pound man had the same pulling ability, he could pull 228,200 pounds (1141 tons).

Arabic numerals (the ones used in English) were not invented by the Arabs at all - they were actually invented by Indian mathematicians.

Soon after building started in 1173, the foundation of the Pisa tower settled unevenly. Construction was stopped, and was continued only a 100 years later. Therefore, the leaning tower was never straight.

What's one way to tell if an older egg is fresh? After putting an egg in a glass of water, if the egg sits at an angle or stands on one end, the egg is older, but still edible. If the egg floats, it should be discarded. Sinking to the bottom denotes a fresh egg.

Penguins' eyes work better underwater than in the air. This is attributed to their need to hunt food underwater as opposed to just standing out on the ice.
