I actually had ride in the yellow one in the 1980's. It was offered to me for sale but it was way out of my league. My understanding was that someone in the Traverse City Michigan area owns it. That car actually has a AMC 360 in it in place of the AMC 390.
There was also another guy attempting to reproduce them for a while. Haven't heard much about that project lately. IMG_5362 by Rick Jones, on Flickr IMG_5363 by Rick Jones, on Flickr IMG_5364 by Rick Jones, on Flickr Last edited by SC/397; 09-23-2021 at 04:13 PM. |

That car must have been like being in a UFO back then!! The yellow car in your photos is the #5 car, it's been blue, black and is now on at least its second time in yellow. The current restoration was completed by Autosport Designs in NY. It currently resides in the DC area. The red car is the #2 car and was the high speed test car at Monza. It's had a couple restorations and is now Bittersweet Orange. Here's a great resource for the cars https://amx3.weebly.com/ |

Tom Dulaney has been an enthusiast of these cars and followed them for a few decades.
Tom purchased the pushmobile display vehicle and had bodies made. He's still working on making one run and drive. http://amx390.com/ |

George Doughtie is the fellow that gave me a ride in it.
Man, if I would have had a spare 80K back then I would have owned it. |
