Default W30 power seat repair

The above on my car appears to be jammed. There is power to the switch but I can't get any movement out of the seat. Any idea of next steps for this?

Check for faulty Fuse, Ground, bad Wires, a bad Relay and last a bad motor.
You should get yourself a 1970 Cutlass / 442 Assembliy Manual.

----What Dan said, and then yank the whole seat and inspect carefully as stuff has a way of getting jammed in the tracks. Those motors are fairly robust......Bill S

There is also a gearbox/solenoid bank which engage the required cable (depending on desired movement). These are very bad for sticking or not engaging due to old dried up grease/lubricant. They often need to be fully dismantled, cleaned and re-lubed to operate correctly.

There's not anything in the assembly manual on the power seat track. MAY be some info in a Fisher Body manual but likely just some drawings or pics.

I just checked my '70 Olds Chassis Service manual and not a thing in there either.

Pull the thing out if you can get to the track bolts (after first checking for a bad ground or something more "obvious" with it still in place and w/power to the seat motor) and start checking, pulling parts, cleaning, re-lubing, etc. If it's never been messed with a thorough cleaning and relubing of the various parts is going to help any way.

Fisher Body Book has the power seat diagnosis contained in it.

Yep, my AIM is no help. I will start looking for obvious issues. Acts like it is just "stuck" since power it going to it. Will let you know.

This is exactly what I had to to do. The grease wasn't grease any more.

I have not gotten to work on this yet. Luckily the seat setting is fine for me. Will take a look soon. Thanks for the replies.
