This extremely rare 1939 Lincoln Zephyr Town Limousine has been beautifully restored and is part of the MS CLASSIC CARS “NO RESERVE” COLLECTION. A total of 462 Town Limousines built between the years 1937-1940. This example is one of only 95 factory built Town Limousines models in 1939. It could possibly be the only one to still exist. In 1936, The Lincoln Motor Company announced a new motor car – the 12-cyclinder Lincoln-Zephyr- in idea and performance unlike any car the public had seen before. The Zephyr may justly be called the style leader of its era. As documented with The Henry Ford “Lincoln Automobile Record” this wonderful example assembly date was November 3rd, 1938. It was built as model style #96H-22-Limousine and was body #9. It left the factory with a tan exterior and a price of 1,700.00. The Town Limousine was built for a very unique customer who demanded the highest level of quality. From the information gathered this example for the Sargent Lock Family of the Sargent Lock Company that was suppling door locks for The Lincoln Motor Company. A note from a previous owner dated April 2, 1997 is included. In early 2000’s this example found itself in the hands of a well-known Lincoln Zephyr collector who lives in Assonet, MA where it’s been ever since. This example was the product of a complete restoration. The vision was to keep it authentic along with some of its originality. The mission was accomplished with this rolling piece of artwork. The exterior body is very straight with nice gap lines throughout. The hood, doors and trunk lid close nicely. The body was refinished in the original color of tan which dresses it well. The paint was recently detailed to a show quality shine. All nine pieces of glass were replaced new and are crystal clear. The rear spilt window is iconic with its timeless design. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced such as the wipers, three mirrors, hood ornament, front grill, headlight bezels and headlights, front bumper, body side and lower moldings, door handles, gas cap, trunk handle, tail light bezels and taillights, rear bumper and emblems. The car sits on 16” painted steel wheels with trim rings and hub caps. The wheels are wrapped with Firestone Deluxe Champion 7.00-16 whitewall tires. The four doors open into a deep and luxurious interior that was completely restored. The attention to detail is evident throughout. One of the Town Limousine unique features is the middle petition with a sliding glass divider. It’s believed this example was special ordered with the unique jacquard weave broadcloth upholstery on the middle petition, passenger door panels and rear seat. The pockets on the middle petition are also unique. Some of the equipment and appointments include two adjustable visor protectors, instruments arranged in a compact cluster on the newly designed control board for 1939, a large glove compartment on either side of the instrument panel, multiple ash trays and two foot hassocks offers an extra measure of comfort and relaxation for rear seat passengers. The trunk compartment was nicely restored and the light works automatically when it’s opened. The spare wheel and tire swing outward easily to access the large luggage compartment area. The engine compartment is very clean with many correct parts throughout. The two black horns are concealed beneath the hood. During the restoration the original engine was replaced by the more powerful 292ci 4.8L V12 (Post War) engine that was factory rated with 130HP. The engine was completely rebuilt and runs smooth. The engine is coupled to the factory rebuilt 3-speed manual transmission with quiet helical gears. The power is transferred to the pavement through the rebuilt Columbia 2-speed overdrive rear axle. The undercarriage is also very clean with many correct parts throughout. The gear-worm and roller type steering, hydraulic shock absorbers and hydraulic braking system provide the ultimate driving experience. An original dealership brochure is included. This car has been completely serviced and detailed which is documented with an invoice that’s included.
