67 L78 rsss
I came across a 67 rsss 396 car that had a matching #s
MQ code motor but a t/400 trans. A 87 year old man ownes it and i might buy it. He purchased it in 1972 and said it was drag raced until he bought it. I know the L78 came only with the manual trans. I am going back to look at it this weekend and taking down all the #s. I'm sure the car was converted to auto for more consistant ETs.Also the cowl tag was missing or stolen. Could this car be a conversion car? It is defenitly a real deal car and the owner has Know idea what this car is. He has put some funky non origanal parts on this truly rare camaro. Any input would be very helpful. Thanks in advance. |

Re: 67 L78 rsss
I did get a chance to look it over. It did have the grommet
in the firewall where the muncie spedo cable location is. It also has a 6/7 tach and factory traction bar. It has a 12 bolt posi rear that I could not see the #s without putting it up on a jack. The Two problems I can see with the car is the missing 4k cowl tag and the fact that the vin tag has round rivit heads. The man who ownes it states that the cowl tag was missing from day one (1972). The vin tag could have been removed during its only repaint two years ago (but doubtful). It also has single 3/8 fuel line. I didn't get a chance to look at the casting # on the block or the heads. He wouldn't know an L78 from a L34 car and does not have a clue on its value. I made a offer of 8k and he does not want to sell yet. He is going to call me when he is ready. Do you guys think this car is worth buying or does the cowl and vin tags leave to many questions. any comments would be welcome. |
