Default Demon Real World Road test

For those who may recall my adventures with the Hellcat:https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=130339

Newsflash.. I get my grubby hands on a Demon later today. Good news I may not need to take any Holy Water since the car only has 70 miles on it and the computer will not allow any of the teenage shenanigans like line lock or drag launch. Further I can hit it as hard as I want as long as I keep it under 3000 RPM. The computer will not turn anything past 3000 RPM until after there is 500 miles on the car.

Still plenty of opportunities for Mayhem as if you are not careful since 2500 RPM=100 MPH in this car, By way of comparison the red line comes in at 6000 RPM.

So.. If I post here later that means: 1) I am not demon possessed, and 2) I lived through the experience.

Stay tuned.

So, you planning to get the mileage past the 500 mile point?

My initial impressions of this car are nothing like I was prepared for.

Dodge did a magnificent job on this car from a cosmetic standpoint, suspension engineering, and the fantastic supercharged Hemi.

The car is both violent and yet sophisticated in many ways. More to follow tomorrow.

Driving impressions: I was warned in advance of my punishment for violations-this was agreed to in advance to be sure my attention was prompt.

I have a pretty good bruise on my arm from the owner when I revved the car past 3000 in one launch. while some features are shut off, (until you get to 500 miles) the engine is actually unrestricted from the get go- BUT telemetry is recorded by Chrysler and if you go hog wild on the engine before the 500 mile break in is complete they can deny any future warranty claim on the powertrain.

Driving this car is like being in the back seat with the hot cheerleader- she has her clothes off..her hands are allover you but you are not permitted to do anything except twiddle her hair on the very top of her head.

The name Demon fits since the name of the game here initially is temptation and in my case beatings-- and later I think Chrysler would not buy any argument later that you could not control your impulses during the break in period when you have your first powertrain warranty claim.

On the street the Demon actually feels more controllable at speed than the earlier Hell Cats are. In my view the earlier hell cats had a viper inspired level of sophistication - where you have a feeling of being on the edge all the time with the power coming on with little warning where as with the demon the power is down right violent but the act of demanding it feels more deliberate, more planned. This is where technology comes into play.

Race cool Down feature is there to protect the drive train. No full on racing for me.. It is shut off.

The launch. I wanted to see if I could coax the front end to come up. With the temps asphalt was a no go. But I did find a nice new concrete bridge with a skid resistant texture and finally it was game on. With three people in the car and a a 4000 RPM launch the tires hooked and BANG the front end obliged by lifting up full on race style.

Did we get air? Who knows but this was tremendous fun

The first thing I would do is put a cage in this car and perhaps wear a helmet.
