Default Alternator "refresh"

Hey guys, I want to clean up the alternator on my Nova and was wondering what I should use and how to do it. It seems to be working properly and I'm just wanting it to be more "presentable"! It's not horrible looking, just "old" (like me!!). Also, is there something I should be aware of inside of it that should be replaced while I'm at it.
Thanks for your help,
Joe
P.S. How can I post "smaller" pictures??!!
