'66 Corvette Day 2 427/4-sp Convertible
Talk about Flares with a capital F....
Interesting car accompanied by a tall tale in the auction description (implying the bodywork was done by GM). Looks like an extreme version of the southern California shop flare jobs that we see from time to time on well preserved midyears. I'd swap out the wheels for Torq Thrusts or 200-S but otherwise a neat machine. Link to 1966 Corvette Convertible auction 194676S126859 |

Kind of a pretty car even though the flares are extreme. A set of Ansen mags would set it off better than the Western wheels.

The rear flares are, sort of, OK, but those squared off and flat front flares are just offensive to the lines of the rest of the car.
As Tim says, it's a nice color.

From the auction:
"Up for auction is a Beautiful 1966 Corvette 427 Stingray convertible! Not just any other stingray it’s a wide body done from Chevy back in 1968. With its fully built 427 original motor the vette has a bigger cam, heads, lifters, intake, and carb it was raced back in the 70s by the original owner dukes of Hazzard star John Schneider. I’m the third owner of the car purchased it from Schneiders friend" Maybe it's just the wording, lack of punctuation and a little misinformation tossed in. John Schneider was born in 1960...highly doubt he was the original owner, But here is a pic of John's 66' looking very similar.. |

Mitch, I agree after another look, the front flares are a bit offensive.
It appears to be the same car with an interior and exterior color change. |
