Default Crated Crankshaft - Impressive eBay Transaction

Seldom now days do people go out of their way to deliver great packaging for something bought through eBay, but this guy who sold me a crank a couple weeks ago went over the top. I needed another 1178 crank for a second DZ302 build and turned to a listing with a real nice crankshaft for sale. Not only did I win the crank, but also got another 7708 balancer and assembly line windage tray from the same seller. Here's where it got cool. I was going to emphasize to the seller that it needed to be packed really well and was about to ask him to build a crate when he said "no worries" it's already crated and trust me "it's very well packed".

Well I picked it up today on a parts run down to Montana and could not believe how well the seller packed it. Crate weighed like 90lbs and it was the best box I have ever seen built for shipping car parts. Built out of 1" fir planks, nailed together like I've never seen and reinforced with some kind of 2 sided tin corner surrounds. Once he had that all crated up, he then wound a tightly fit box around the whole thing. You want to talk about bullet proof? All I can say is I am so impressed with the guy who sold me these parts. On top of all that, I unwrapped the crank from 3 layers of tightly would plastic and then found he also taped paper towels around all of the journals. Lastly, the crank was coated in Cosmolene after having it freshly ground and polished up. Can't wait to wash it down tomorrow as it's gotta be one sweet crankshaft if the seller was this anal about packing it for a safe journey. He has restored my faith in that there are still some great people who deal on eBay.

Thanks D. Miller of Middlebury, Indiana (You Rock)

You see, I'd have something that nice mounted over the fireplace, lol. Kudos to the seller.

Looks like the crate that the infamous "Leg Lamp" came in from A Christmas Story.

You were fortunate to have someone who cared....

This is how I received a 7115 crank on my door step and shipped by UPS from the Detroit area...just a piece of yellow UPS tape saying "overweight"... nothing else!! asked the seller WTF ??? ...his reply was he wrapped it in cardboard .

Miraculously it was undamaged and magged out fine.

JBL made a limited run of those about 10 years ago. Most of them were snapped up real quick by their dealers. I grabbed a few as my shop was a JBL dealer.

They work great for work shops & such and put out about 45 watts with a small tube amp. Also has rear inputs for other devices.

See what I mean Shaun...that crank arriving like that is typical of most people who sell stuff and ship through eBay now days. I like to call "those types" window licking F-tards. I mean...if you're gonna sell something, pack it to arrive the way you'd like to receive it.

It doesn't take much to do things the right way, but it does take a sense of pride.

I got lucky, and hooked up with a stand-up seller.

Glad for you. Never know. I am always relieved when I get something packaged well. Of course, the shipper can always figure out a way to destroy it, regardless of how well packaged.

On another note, I don't get that I have a comparable 1178 crank on ebay (STD mains, .020 rods, ready to run) for less money ($600 with free shipping in the 48 States U.S.) and can't get a buyer for it.
