'70 #s LT1 Corvette Convertible

Monza Red over Saddle - classy color combination. Not a fire-sale price by any means, but appears to be a very nice car, even underneath, with the exception of the jack damage on the front crossmember...same issue you see on first-gen F-bodies.

With all the recent interest on this site around C3 Corvettes, and anecdotes about how quick the '70 LT-1 cars are, I'm thinking one of these might make a great Pure Stock Drags contender.

I agree...looks like a nice car. It's been for sale for quite a while on ebay, so I wonder what the deal is? I made an offer on my old 70 LS5 last night, but he wants more than I think it is worth, so still looking

These LT1 cars are awesome... this one in particular needs some help. No expansion tank on the LT1 Vette motor. That means we have some configuration issues with the tank, radiator, hose routing, etc. SMOG is missing but manifolds appear to be present. A lot of little things which ad up... need to validate the carb is real, same with starter. The water pump appears to be service. 884 alternators are very expensive and this appears to be service replacement. Lots of hardware issues too. At a buy in price of $52k you're not far off the pace but if you want a correct car, you're looking at $7k-$8k in budget easily.

To early VIN for a P/S car. I had a 70 VIN 6788 a March 14 build date car with a CTU engine code, 03/02 was the engine assembly date. Was the latest know CTU engine code before they switched to CTK engine code because they started offering Power steering which had a different oil pan to accept the P/S piston. Like Dan said earlier, do your home work.

Interesting...I was always under the impression that 70 Lt-1's couldn't get PS. Now I want one!

Seller "retiredklassics" is (I believe) the online outlet of the now-closed longtime NW dealer Kompact Kar Korner. They sold their lot to a big dealer that specializes in lifted late model 4x4's. Over the years I inspected/appraised at a bit of sketchy stuff for people there (there were nice cars onsite, they just belonged to the owner and weren't for sale, lol). Lynnwood is about 30 min north of Seatac airport, so come look or hire someone objective to look at it if it floats your boat. They certainly have the connections to unearth good stuff, but really good stuff probably doesn't make it to eBay.

With a little bit of patience, one can do better that this car without spending a ton more.

There are two nice LT1's for sale on this site right now, both for less money. Both are very nice cars that I would prefer over this one.

I would have to agree with you Tim. I like both of the other cars a lot! I have a soft spot for 72's having owned 3 of them in the past. I just wished that the Canadian dollar wasn't so weak right now. It costs me a $1.36 for one US Buck!
