Default 77 Chevette on FB

Not my cup of tea but appears it’s been well preserved. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...7724765896380/

Well documented and less than 5000 miles. Probably has more options than any other Chevette ever produced! And the listing on FB calls it a 'Corvette', not a 'Chevette'

Default Chevette...

When I worked at a Chevy dealer [late 70's/early 80's] we sold a ton of these cars. They were cheap and pretty reliable...very popular with companies who needed inexpensive 'fleet' vehicles. I had a few in the rental fleet...we would take them to a local lake in the winter and run them on the ice. Get going about 25mph and slowly engage the parking brake....they would turn donuts pretty easy.

It's really cool and would get a lot of looks and comments at a cruise or show! Great colour combo.

Rented one in Florida early 80’s. Alamo had them for $69.00 a week. They were AC cars. Driving across Aligator Alley one night coming back from Miami we were hitting top speed of 85 MPH with the AC off. Turned on the AC and it was like I shut the engine off. Top speed dropped to a little over 70 mph.
My mother in law did like the car and in the spring of 1980 I ordered her a new one. The Chev dealer in Yorkdale Ont did not believe AC was available, he had to look it up. We order a “loaded” chevette, AC,tinted Glass,AM/FM, white walls, Power steering and deluxe wheel covers. AC cars got no special suspension for the added weight and the car kept breaking the front coils. After 4 yrsrs she traded it on a “loaded “ Plymouth Caravelle.
