Default Windshield washer pump rebuild

Washer pump gave up the ghost on the Chevelle. I did a search and came up empty on this topic - who is rebuilding windshield washer pumps?

Just the pump is not functioning - the motor works fine. I bought a pump rebuild kit but the orientation of the nozzles is wrong and the plastic is white not black (I assume my black one is original to the car). I see the reproduction ones everyone sells are white as well....

Thanks

Have a look at my build thread on TC, Page 41, beginning at Post 804. You should find what you need. Here is the link:

Just used Lloyd's instructions to rebuild mine. Have not tried to fire it up yet, but I will soon.

I have the same problem with mine Jake. I believe the originals were all white. I still have my original pumps on all three of my cars and they are white. One of my pumps won't shut off and the other pumps, but nothing comes out. Let me know if you find anything.

---I felt the same way but had no knowledge about 72 Chevelles, so didn't want to comment!.....Bill S

Thanks all. Lloyd I appreciate the link. Looks like mine must have been rebuilt at some time prior to my ownership in 1987 since the plastic part is black. The rebuild kit I bought has the nozzles at a 90 degree angle (like the Camaro) vs. straight out like is on there now (which I now realize is probably incorrect based on the plastic color).

I was (pleasantly) surprised to find all the NOS bits and pieces needed for a factory correct rebuild were readily available on eBay as pump replacement rather than repair is a popular choice.

I just ordered a complete replacement pump assembly from Ground Up to install. This way I can take my time rebuilding the original - had too much down time with the rest of the project and don't want to do that again as driving season is now upon us.
