Very cool photos...that is some plumbing setup for the carb. Is that how they came from the factory??

I see the vacuum hose has a tee...where does the other hose go??

The fuel line is factory. I love that design on them, very easy to service. The filter can is bent and should be replaced, which is common when people don't use a backing wrench properly.

Vac tee is going to my test gauge, which is sitting on the fender out of the photo. The normal routing is the steel hard line from front of the carb between the emulsion screws, into a hose (where the clip mounts to the manifold), and direct to the distributor. That is one of two manifold vacuum points on these AFBs and the only item that uses manifold vacuum is the distributor. 63's also have a "reverse" PCV system--the PCV screws into the back of the carb with a 90 degree pipe fitting and the PCV valve has a NPT end on it as well. That connects to the former draft tube location next to the distributor, again combination of hard line and tubing.

Impressive setup....what kind of vacuum does this engine have at idle??

Should be 18" stock. It has a L-79 cam, so it's 15-16 now.

That compression ratio and gear is enough for the L-79 cam??

Stock compression is not ideal, but the gear is fine. One of the best running setups in a Corvette is a L-79 with M21 and 3.70 gear. I've had L-79s with M20 and 3.36, and that is OK also and makes for a more tolerable highway car.

At one point, this car had a L-79 top end with the cam. As far as I know, the compression was not changed, but the cam was.

In the 2 miles I have driven it, it feels very strong. No telling what is inside. My other 63 is a fuelie with 4.11s, which needless to say feels very fast. But it's all but undrivable on the highway for any length of time besides an on-ramp to off-ramp romp. In the past, I've put thousands of miles on my midyears and I was looking forward to making this one into my summer driver. For that alone, the gear was appealing to me.
