California
Sorry, I don't have access to the full article, but the headline is probably enough. Wonder what that's going to do to the population in general.
California's 2035 Gasoline Ban Is Becoming Law Unlike the goals set by many countries and cities, California's ban is binding. California will codify its proposed 2035 ban on new gasoline cars into law this week, as The New York Times reports. While many nations have announced goals to eliminate gas car sales in the 2030s and beyond, California will be the first major government to make the target binding. It is not a goal, but a deadline. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will mandate that 35 percent of all new cars be zero-tailpipe-emissions by 2026, climbing to 68 percent in 2030 before all new gasoline-engine car sales are banned in 2035, per The Times. https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a4...0Non%20Openers

Market for ultra-low mileage 'used' gasoline-powered cars in neighboring states could be very strong.

The plan is to dry up demand for used ICE through the non approval of loans to buy.

We haven't bought a new car since my wife's '07 TSX and it still runs like a Swiss watch. I always buy 3-4 yr old vehicles now and pay cash. Seems this will help bring the cost of those down.

I would think probably the opposite, that late model used vehicles will go up in value even more than they have already. Also, I imagine that the last new ICE vehicles (2034?) being sold in CA will be flying out of lots. Those, as well as U-Hauls for the mass exodus that is going to happen I believe.

Hot news topics
There are a lot of proposed changes and there are always two points of view. I rather that we all focus on our hobby/musclecars. There are plenty of sites that delve into these newsworthy hot topics such as this. As I stated before this site as I envision is an oasis from the day-to-day critical new topics.
Everyone is playing nice, but hope this post brings us back to our core focus, the passion for our hobby. If there is specific new legislation that may impact our hobby that would be more beneficial.

Thanks Steve.
Fortunately we as a group understand the truth needs no defense and undisputedly will absolutely defend itself as long as censorship is not present in a way that disenfranchises the truth. Kind of like being able to call out a fake car or a fake stamp where little to no concern is given to the feelings that are hurt in the process - since the truth is the truth. |

I look at how all this relates to our love for gas/ diesel powered machines and most important, the ability for our children and grand children to appreciate such.
With all significant societal changes they begin with a small group of people with possibly good intentions. From there it gains momentum as the benefits are present even at a minor level and the there are contrarian points of view and then it is politicized. At some point there has to be an intervention of sorts, meaning we need balance and in todays world, data to determine next steps. If you force it on society you will have unintended consequences. I think those of us on this site are emotionally triggered when we here “mandate”. There is a lot of things/data to come in before the 2035 mandate which I believe will change many views. I’m not suggesting we sit back and do nothing, but I do believe many of these “mandates” burn themselves out. Mean while let’s take our grandkids for a ride in our loud smelly vehicles. |

The final touch of Authenticity to the drive is when you do a 50/50 cut on some 110 octane race gas.
