That stamping is pretty funky...but I will trust the experts that it is real...The fact that the motor had all the original parts kind of confirmed it prior to seeing the stampings...and I did see the trans with no less than 7 vin stampings...

Cool motor !!!...dont deck it...and try to find the car first before doing anything....!!! Then, if all else fails...you can donate it to me for my car,ok !!! haha

Time to find a 67 Z body to build a car around your motor... !!

So did you have the trans to this engine?? If so, keep them together

My trans had 3 or 4 VIN stampings on it

Stamping looks good.

[/ QUOTE ]What I find weird is that ONE of the three Vin stampings appears to have bigger characters than the other two.

"...What I find weird is that ONE of the three Vin stampings appears to have bigger characters than the other two..."

I noticed that too but when looking closer thought it's because the shorter looking set doesn't include the botttom part of the digits...like the gang stamp was held on an angle when hit?.

[/ QUOTE ]OK, look at the 3 N's. The lower one is wider as well as taller. That wouldn't happen in the scenario you outlined

Being the stamping(s) to the upper-left is actually two stampings having been hit twice, it's the two N's stamped on top of each other that give the illusion of being skinnier since the 'skinny' looking N's are from seeing part of each stamping at once..

Looking closely at the four vertical sides of both N's together, the 2'nd and 4'th vertical sides are the N of the stamping that's higher than the other one also is taller since it's pretty much a whole height stamping being gang stamped flat..
Comparing this N to the whole N of the complete lone stamping at the bottom, they look the same...don't they?.

The 1'st and 3'rd vertical sides are of the N that's gang has been stamped lower than the other also looks shorter since it's the one mentioned previously that doesn't include the botttom part of the digits from the gang stamp being held on an angle when hit..

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, I think you're right. I look at the clearer of the upper 2 8's, and it looks the same size as the lower 8 in the seperate formation. That guy was smoking "something". Three attempts, and neither's worth a crap
