I have 1-3/4 on my 68 with stock transverse muffler. Car also has factory 4.56 gears which also helps a bunch...Joe

My brother's 69 rs z/28 has Hooker Super Comp 2131 on it and runs great. Headers were mine-bought them in 1976. They fit great and work with manual or power steering. Don.

I have ran Dynomax stepped headers and Doug's 1-3/4" tube headers with great results. For the next car I will use the Dynomax stepped headers again because the quality is outstanding.

I am sorry I was wrong on the name brand of the headers. I looked at my notes and I used Dynatech MuscleMaxx part number 329-740-11210 from Jegs. It was stepped from 1-5/8" to 1-3/4" and had a 2-1/2" reducer from the collector for 2-1/2" exhaust. Jegs has the headers on sale now for $599.00 with free shipping. The next set I will buy will be for a big inch small block and that has tubes that are 1-3/4" to 1-7/8" that ends up to a 3" reducer for 3" exhaust.
