That they were and they had a ram air system that actually worked.

On the factory built 1966 W30, each air cleaner had the car's "serial number" 1 to 54 stamped into it.

What a weird (and heart breaking) story behind this Corvette

Just this one time . . . . a peek up the magican's sleeve. LOL

Here's what I see. If I see something that catches my eye, I click on it hoping it will expand to a much larger image like 1280x900. I try to stay above 1000x1000. Some are considerably larger which means if the photo is "postable" I will resize it to fit these parimeters. I use MS PAINT to do this. I also crop photos as their might be too much sky or the background is a distraction to the car.

One of the benefits to using Postimage is they have a download that allows me to "screen capture" anything that appears on my monitor. It is saved in my Pictures as a Screenshot XXXX. I then crop the photo to get rid of all the extrenous stuff. It's how I post Mecum photos as they do not allow a simple "save image."

A postable photo has to have great detail - tack sharp focus - so I can easily read the RWL on the rear tires as this isn't always the case. When you shoot with a fixed lens, if you point to the front of the car, the rear of the car will be slightly out of focus. Camera lenses are not like our eyes which have infinite focus. If the photographer focuses on the middle of the car instead, that will usually result in the front and rear both equally being in focus.

Old B & W racing photos is the exception.

It's unfortunate that many of the photos I look at are very small - not much bigger then those thumbnails above. I don't post these because they are too small to see any detail at all.

I am thinking that when you view a photo, you are looking at the entire photo, seeing all the detail and either admiring the car . . . or picking it apart. Yes some I post where I am very curious to see the comments you make on what's missing or misaligned, etc. And believe me, I learn a TON from you guys.

I have a half a dozen "sites" that I use to find photos to post. I am always on the look out for new "sites" because they all fall under the umbrella of TUMBLER so many photos repeat over different "sites."

When I click on a photo (the photo goes black as shown in second row, 6th photo, it will take me to the original photo where the thumbnail comes from. Sometimes there is a caption that adds information about the photo - if revelant, I will add to the post, while other times . . . NADA, just the photo.

I look at about 500 to 1000 of these thumbnails a day as they have proven to be a great library of photos for the thread. I try to keep at least 50 postable photos in my pictures inventory just incase I come up goose eggs for a couple of days. I try to post 10 photos a night then add another 5 to 10 during the day. And some mornings while I am waiting for the stock market to open, I can post a couple of pages There are 15 posts per page.

As much fun as you have looking through the posts and responding to them, I have even more - cause I see them before you do.

The numbers weren’t serial numbers. Since the 54 factory cars had the shrouds hand drilled for the top and bottom pieces to be matched together after the top piece was chrome plated, both top and bottom pieces were stamped with matching numbers to be sure they mated with the hand drilled holes.
The 54 assembly line shrouds used 5 attaching screws while the 200 plus track pack shrouds used 6 screws.
The 66 I owned was a very early build, maybe one of the first 3 yet it had shroud number 18.
