not exactly original >> 1967 SS396 LS2 ProTour Car
Hi Guys, I have one of Tim Mason's cars forsale - this is a 27 year old that can build some serious rides - car is in Dallas at his shop... asking $99,500
This is a 1967 Chevelle SS hardtop (originally was a 396 car). This particular Chevelle started the way that most of our cars do, with a rotisserie treatment. Documenting pictures of the steps taken to build this car can be found on our website. I could go on forever about the extensive steps taken on the car, but I'll start with a parts list that will cover most of the cool (read: expensive) parts that we used to build the car: New crate LS2 engine from GM (400 horse, 400 lb/ft torque) 4L60E SRTA transmission from GM that received our treatment of a thicker reaction sunshell, big giant fat 1-2 band, heavy accumulator spring, and 9 clutch 3-4 shift pack. This transmission shifts very well and will have a great lifespan since we've replaced the common weak links of the factory unit with stronger parts. FAST electronics LS engine harness, GM computer Alumitech reproductions aluminum radiator with Spal cooling fans and Spal PWM fan controller Aeroquip TFE racing braided stainless lines throughout, including: fuel lines, transmission cooler lines, steam line, master cylinder to frame hoses, and power steering hoses. Street and Performance serpentine belt drive system Larsen Engineering quick ratio steering gear box Custom fuel rail covers Custom air intake tube with K&N filter Hot Rod Wires body wiring harness Street and Performance headers Hotchkis TVS Suspension kit including: Big giant fat sway bars front and rear, front lowering coil springs, rear lowering coil springs, big fat tie rod sleeves and ends, and frame stiffeners. Hotchkis front upper control arms, Hotchkis adjustable upper rear control arms, and Hotchkis rear lower control arms Global West front lower control arms Baer Brakes Track System with 13.6" front rotors and 11" rear rotors Ford 9" differential with 3.50:1 gears Eagle Alloy Series 212 wheels, 18x8 front 18x9.5 rear Rick's Hot Rods stainless steel fuel tank (with in tank pump) and polished stainless steel coolant reservoir ididit tilt steering column with Billet Specialties wheel All new glass and trim THROUGHOUT the vehicle Specialty Power Windows power window kit (front and quarter windows) Classic Auto Air air conditioning system 2003 Cadillac Escalade Platinum Series gauge cluster seated in a completely reworked dashboard with a hand made fiberglass close out panel over the cluster. The cluster works correctly and accurately using the correct GM engine/transmission sensors. The odometer, Change Oil reminder, high beam headlight indicator, PRNDL, and service engine soon lamp all function as if it were a new Escalade. I can't tell you how many hours were consumed metalworking the dash to accept the cluster in a pleasing manner and then how many more hours were spent to make the cluster operate normally. Four bucket seat setup. We hand built the rear seat console around the front seats. Again, I can't tell you how many hours were consumed by the construction of this piece. Custom front console with heater ducts, stereo control head, 2nd center A/C vent, and glove box. Custom leather interior trimmed in light tan, red and black, hand fabricated door panels, quarter panel insets, and kick panels. The trunk has also been finished out to match the car's interior CD stereo system with amplifier, 6x9's (rear) and 5.25" speakers up front, antenna is hidden. Morris Classic Concepts 3 point front seat belts LED interior, trunk, and underhood lighting Folks, please look at the amount of time, money and effort that went into the creation of this car. No detail was overlooked. Even small things, like the flat black paint on the reproduction exterior trim and emblems was removed, taped off and painted black again with basecoat/clearcoat to provide exceptional luster and paint lines. We have done everything we can to bring this Chevelle into the modern age with spectacular fit and finish to all pieces. I bid you to come open and close the doors, hood and trunk. This car is straight and true. The fly-by-wire LS2 engine is extremely powerful but retains great driveability. Power wise, while dyno-tuning, the engine produced 330 horsepower and 350 lb/ft of torque, as measured at the REAR WHEELS. This will only increase as the engine/transmission completes the break-in process. The car has terrific acceleration but is very mild-mannered when driven conservatively. Steering effort is light but provides good feeling and very un-Chevelle-like handling. Body roll is minimal. The car is available for viewing/road tests at our facility located in Dallas, Texas. An independant third party inspection is strongly encouraged so you will have further testimony to our build quality. Dave Castine 617.513.7407
