Default Shelby GT350R ('17 or '18)

O.k., so, if you go strictly by the title of this section "Supercars/Musclecars-Wanted", my request is valid. However this being a F*rd request, I will understand if the moderators deep six this thread.

However, if the moderators have a lapse in judgement and allow this thread, I am looking for a low mileage (less than 2K miles) 350R version with most colors considered ('cept yellow, orange, grabber blue). I would entertain a '19 allocation (I know - fat chance!) at MSRP but little or no ADM.

And, for the record, Mikey drives a Mustang now!!!!!!!!!! Hmmmmmm, now that I think about it, I think he is the one who gave me the bug!

Thanks!!

P.S. Thoughts from anyone who has one or driven one?
P.S.S. I have done the routine web searches - looking for more word-of-mouth or inside info [i.e. if anyone knows Jay Leno, maybe he would part with his ;>)) ]

The R model is more track based than the GT350. There are packages that available that can make it more driver friendly. The R model is the best of the best. Carbon fiber wheels too. You chose a great car to buy.. Good Luck on the search..

btw , It is a flat plane crankshaft engine. Sounds bad#$$ . 65 to 75k will get you what you want if you look hard.

Thanks Scott. I saw that one. Very purdy w/ only 144 miles!! I appreciate your offer and may contact you about this.

Engine personality-wise, these cars remind me of the 302 cu. in. Z’s - you have to wind them out to get the performance. The 305 cu. in. 350R engine comes alive after 3500 rpm and continues to pull all the way to 8250 rpm!! 429 lb ft / 526 H.P. and it's.....
NA!!

I was interested in a 2015 Z and a couple guys I know that had them said they rode rough. Sounds like the mustang rides better. Where I live, I figured the Z would beat me up. I have a low mile 2002 Trans Am with the ws6 and that thing beats me up too.
Is the mustangs ride tolerable? That engine sounds wicked

Hey Bill,

At this point I only know what I read !!! But, I understand the GT350 (non R) may be the better choice to minimize getting "beat up". Same drive train, just without the more aggressive suspension tweaking, CF wheels, wider (305F/315R) and stickier Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s, and more pronounced rear wing. BTW, the aggressive howl of the Voodoo engine is in part due to the flat plane crank (ala Ferrari which has a 180 degree angle between crank throws allowing for faster and higher revs) and the removed exhaust resonators for the "R" version. I too can't get over the sweet sound this engine makes - you can select "quiet" ;>) mode or full on race mode to rattle your fillings!!
