A bubble in '70 Chevelle Prices?

I'm going to get out the crystal ball and predict that somewhere in the near future a car like this will not seem overpriced at that number. Assuming it is a rust free original sheet metal car that could be easily 'massaged' with engine/trans upgrades...it's really not too crazy.

I see lots of $15k rusty Chevelles that need $15-20k worth of body work and paint...and interior work besides. When you add it all up, these low mileage granny style cars are the best ones to buy.

Now is $40k a lot today...probably, but a year or two from now it will be different..remember folks next year those 70 Chevelles will be 50 years old

I highly doubt the seller will get that kind of money... You can always ask anything but it is what someone will pay that matters...

I heard a few weeks ago that the average for a body man and upholstery folks is almost 60 yrs old. They are dying art forms. Alot of guys I know are getting fed up with there cars being in "paint prison". I too think these solid grannys are the way to go if solid . Ready for a LS or carbrated motor of choice without all the wait time

----While this is a clean 70, the fact that its a 307 means it is missing a lot of good stuff that a 350 option would have added. 12 bolt rear for starters, as well as Turbo 400. It might even be a powerglide. If someone is thinking about upgrading they get to add to the price with that stuff. With the price already in the stratosphere it just doesn't make sense. Its his car and he can ask anything for it, but I can't imagine anyone stepping up to his level. However, I have been wrong before!......Bill S

Cough up a few grand more and you can get a NICE real SS 396 car with a good 10 year old restoration.
