Nope - no Gobi Beige paint or Deuce stripes, the paint job on this car is beautiful!! It's a metallic burgundy, with neat orangey strobe squares on the sides. The top also has some squares of lighter burgundy. These squares on the sides and top have a really neat metallic crystalized effect, they apparently used saran wrap on the the squares when the paint was still wet - then clear coated the whole body. The frame is powder coated, it too is very nice and won't be changed. We were just discussing how reshoot the name area and put Benjamin's name on there.

Jeff Morocco is right, any free time I thought I had will be gone. I just spent most of today getting acquainted with the car, and moved the pedals up. We plan to get some seat time next Sunday afternoon - should be a blast!!

Marlin, get him familiar with the kill switches. i started the motor and had them shut off the car by using the switch on the wheel and then used the emergency kill switch next. then i blind folded them and did it again. stress to him the importance of the kill switches. the next day we started it again and told him to shut it off using the wheel switch (i disabled it ) to see what they would do. both hit the emergency without hesitation. i still ask them safety questions and i get the old....."daaaad we know " in a whiney voice !
and time consuming ?........try doing 2 cars !!!!
good luck next week and post some pics and/or video !

The actual 'gear' is arriving - we have the jacket, pants, shoes, gloves & gearbag. The arm restraints and neck collar come today. The helmet is on backorder, we'll have to use his motocross helmet to play around this weekend.

Holy Crap! After looking at the picture of him, there is no need to ever do a DNA check on him.
The nut does'nt fall very far from the tree.
Congrats Marlin and what a way for family quality fun. Won't be long and he will be beating on the Deuce!
I just love racing with my boys and they do too!

Yea, we are reall looking forward to it. My friend Joel and I took the boys out yesterday afternoon to a private stretch of pavement and suited them up. We went through the drills, gave them some instruction and let them drive around a huge circle to get them used to the ride, noise, turning radius, brakes, etc.... Then we had them do some short 'blasts'! I set the throttle stop on Benjamin's car to half throttle (its an 8.90 engine!)and he still pulled the front wheels - he only weighs about 60 lbs. Then we had them do increasingly longer 'blasts' till the end when we had them run the whole 1/8 we marked off.

Typical race cars, both cars 'broke' right at the end. Ben's clutches came loose somehow when we lost a C-clip on one and the jam nuts on the other, and Joel's carb was spitting fuel out the bottom. Ben did the smart thing and when something didn't feel right - he shut it down, he reminded me later that he just saved us money by not ruining more parts!

I was really proud of him, he listened, absorbed, and executed - and says that he 'feels really weird inside, ya just get shoved back into the seat and then hold on - a bit nervous but its awesome!" A racer is born

"says that he 'feels really weird inside"

I was thrilled - very proud of him, used common sense several times when he wasn't sure of something he just shut it down.
