Default New Cragar round spoked?

Dad just got these 15 x 6 Cragars for his '55. They are round spokes, but are dated 2010. When did the flat spokes begin?

I've never been able to get a consistent answer on this myself. I'd heard the 90s, the mid 2000s, the 2010s....

There are a few older posts on the same subject. Some believe the change took place somewhere between 2006 to 2008.

Might be a bit controversial but my mind is that a Cragar is a damn Cragar and most people wouldn't know the difference unless side by side.
Pretty sure mine are flat spoke and I'm still plenty happy with them. (Think they went on in 2006 but I was just a boy)

Hope I don't ruffle any feathers with that but it was actually something I was thinking on recently.

That sure looks like February 5th of 2010 to me……I have a set of 15x8 that were made in 2004 and they are round spoke.

I bought mail order 2 14 x6 from Jegs in 2005 and they were flat spoke. I took them back and the counter guy thought I was nuts for pointing out the flat spoke and my nos rears were round spoke.
"No one would ever notice that" was his reply and he huffed and puffed giving me back a refund. .
I think it all depended on size, where the wheels were made as for flat or round. but I still have the 2005 receipt and they were no doubt flat spokes.

I was probably one of the first people to have Cragars rechromed and pointing out the different cap styles etc. This was early 2000's. I had a set of 15x4's early style rechromed that are now on the "Going Thang" 429 '69'70 MustangPro Stock restoration.

I spoke to a production line manager at Cragar back in the mid 2000's regarding chroming other Cragars I had. The short answer was no. He said Cragar went to the flat spokes because polishing and plating was easier versus the more difficult rounded spoke. If Cragars saved a few $$ per wheel in labor that added up. He was very adamant this was the reason. It was all about Management's pressure to minimize cost. I still have my email somewhere asking if Cragar would rechrome my wheels and I was suprised he called me back. I had an old SEMA book from the early 90's and his name was in it.

What’s funny is if you buy a set of 15 x4.5 direct drill to this day they are round spokes .

Depends on the size and style wheel.
