There is a plain Jane car in Nebraska with the JL-8 option. Owner's brother bought it from a dealer when it was one or two years old. X44, Dusk Blue with white vinyl top and white interior. He is checking to see if he has the protecto-plate.

I was just studying the exception restriction update over on CRG. (pictured below) and that being the case I also doubt it's availability with the 9560 - 9561's. Why? The exception and restriction update is originally dated 6-11-69 then updated to 7-14-69 - by which time the JL8 was no longer being produced. Am I correct in this?

I think so. I have never seen any Chevy doc stating JL8 was dropped as an option but it was, as of June. Latest car in the CRG db was produced 1st week June. AIM notation states discontinued 7-21-69.
Everyone should read Paul Van Valkenburgh's book Chevrolet=Racing? to gain a complete understanding of the JL8 option-and why it did not initially solve the severe brake fade problem the Trans-Am cars were experiencing. |
