Default '69 Yenko Camaro, restored DY 4spd with Orig Motor

What I have is a 1969 Daytona Yellow L-72 4-speed 427 Yenko Camaro:
- One of roughly 198 ’69 Yenko Camaros, in the highly desirable color of Daytona Yellow
- Has its born-with Original Engine, very rare for 4-speed Yenkos
- Correct BE Rear Axle
- 4 Speed car
- Notable ownership history, with no known issues
- #2 condition (very clean car, just older resto)
- COPO Connection paperwork

This particular car #615338 was confirmed by the COPO Connection way back in 1991. It was sold new through Colonial Chevrolet in Norfolk, VA. I have the original Certification document and Verification letter from COPO Connection dated June 1991. I also have a copy of the page from Vince Emme’s Inventory Sheet that includes this car #615338.

This car has been fully restored some time ago (not sure by whom) but still looks very good today. I would rate it a strong #2, but not quite a #1 just because of the age of the restoration. My understanding from previous owners is that the quarters were replaced during the restoration, but otherwise the car’s body was in overall good condition and is a known car with no issues whatsoever. The car runs and drives perfect, although the choke does sometimes stick and so I disabled it. The speedometer is correct (140MPH), but is not working. All the other gauges and lights work including the SW tach. There are some few chips in the paint, all very minor. Although the original born-with 4-speed transmission is gone, the car still has its original born-with engine and BE rear axle (I don't know if this axle is the original one to the car or not, but it is a correct BE axle). It is estimated that fewer than 1/4th of the '69 Yenko Camaros still have their original engines, and many of those are automatics, so the fact that this 4-speed car retains its born-with engine makes this car particularly valuable.

This car has been owned by very notable car collectors Bill Ockerlund, Greg Joseph (curator of the famed Otis Chandler collection), and myself. While Greg owned it, in 2005 he and pro-wrestler/car-guy Bill Goldberg drove it and it was featured extensively on the TV show 'Automaniacs' on the History Channel. Under my ownership this car was invited to the ultra-exclusive Musclecars at the Mansion car show, where just 23 hand-picked musclecars from around the entire US are displayed on the grounds of the Playboy Mansion during one of their big parties. The Playboy sticker on the windshield is still on there from this show. Revell made a 1/25th scale model of this car, although I’m not certain my very car was the template, but the model is certainly the configuration of this exact car and there are only a handful of '69 Yenko Camaros in the same configuration as my car.

I personally am not a Chevy expert, but Jim from Heartbeat City looked at the car and he noted that it was restored with some repop parts, such as the door panels, and the car has repop F70-15 Polyglas GT tires on it instead of the proper Wide Tread GTs. To bring the car to #1 and gold standards in my estimation would require some basic overall detailing and perhaps replacement of some of these repop parts. The car looks and drives great so I never made this step to #1, I'm just trying to describe why I would consider this a #2 condition car, and what little I feel it would take to reach #1 if someone wanted to take it to that level.

Several years ago I allowed professional photographer Ron Kimball take some pictures of the car. All the pictures (both in studio and outdoors) of the Daytona Yellow ’69 Camaro in the following link to Ron’s website are pictures he took of my car, and since these pictures are in Ron’s photostock library every once in a while these pictures pop up in various calendars and books.

The price is firm at $300K. I have a clean CA title in my name. The car can be inspected in San Jose, CA. A local (to me) and very reputable and knowledgeable shop is Campbell Auto Restorations, and if you chose I believe they could be a convenient party to perform an inspection and even hold the car for pickup. I am not aware of any issues whatsoever with this car, so I expect any inspection will just find minor detailing stuff. While my description is accurate the car is being sold as-is and without warranty.

If the buyer later decides to sell the car in a private sale (vs. an auction) then for a period of 3 years I am requesting a right-of-first-refusal to negotiate about purchasing this car back. I know how hard it is to find a car like this.

The car comes with all of the following paperwork and accessory items:
- COPO Connection Report
- COPO Connection Verification certificate
- Yenko 1pg inventory sheet (copy)
- Playboy windshield sticker
- Revell model
- History Channel Automaniacs DVD
- Copy of previous title from Bill Ockerlund
- A clean and current CA Title in my name

I feel I am known for buying the best cars I can get my hands on, and I feel this Daytona Yellow, original motor, mostly original sheetmetal, fully-restored, no-issue, great ownership history '69 Yenko Camaro 4-speed is one of them. Any small detail issues can be addressed, but it is the pedigree of this particular car that brings it to the forefront. In fact it is for this very pedigree as to why I bought the car more than 7 years ago now, and it was a difficult decision for me to let it go.

Unfortunately I have to make a decision very soon as to whether to consign it to one of the Scottsdale Auctions or to sell it privately, so any interest beforehand is welcome.

This is the first time I've tried to post pictures to this site, so hopefully they come through properly. I can send plenty more pictures on request.

Thanks!
- Wade Ogle

Thanks All! As for the Playboy thing, there may have been a crowd around the car, who knows. I was, um, distracted... It was a fun time.

Here's a couple more pics I took a couple days ago with my higher-res camera, for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks,
- Wade
