Default East bound and down:) ... 78 TA WS6 400/4sp

It is really great to get a call to look at a hidden jewel like this. (Its hard NOT to be moved if you’re a child of the 70’s. Original purchaser had a ‘77, heard about the WS6 package and ordered a ‘78. Didn’t order an SE because he didn’t think he needed all that gold, lol. A few careful owners, I don’t think it has ever spent a night outside. The options are just everything you’d want, and the interior and trunk are NEW.

If you ordered the 400, was the 4 speed the standard trans? (Auto was an option?)

I don’t see it on the list.

It must have been-but 4 speed is called out on the shipper. PHS docs were ordered in the mid 80s.

There was a date in 1978 (April I think, I would have to check) when you could not order an automatic anymore behind the W72 400. After that - and into '79 - all W72 orders had 4-speeds only.

This is a very, very nice car. As you said a desirable list of options. I just looked at a Martinique Blue car in similar condition still in the hands of its original owner, on Tuesday. Original paint etc. W72, 4-speed, Blue velour interior, T-tops, but NO WS6

My black car was also not a SE, just Starlight Black, but no T-tops, no hood bird or power options or AC, Just W72 and WS6, Born to Run.

Well done Tom!

The bulletin came out in March - if you wanted an automatic you got the 'lesser' 400 engine, the 180 horse unit, from March 20 on in.

What a Beauty

She just needs a CB, the license plate and The Hat!

Yep. Needs a careful cleaning and a less red heater hose.
